All of creation is made up of five elements. We can see them in nature, in food, in our physical bodies, and even in the work we do.  Many cultures around the world have their roots in the elements. They are connected to who we are as humans and how we live our lives from as far back as we know.

But what are the 5 Elements? Well they can defer depending on the culture, but for the most part and for how I work with them they are as follows:

  • Earth
  • Water
  • Fire
  • Air
  • Spirit/Aether

My work with the elements in detail began in 2019 when I became certified in Elemental Healing, but I have always been connected with them.

When we talk about elements it is also important to talk about the chakras, especially when focusing on our soul mission and our personal healing and development.

What are the main 7 Chakras?

  • BASE CHAKRA: I am
  • SACRAL CHAKRA: I feel
  • SOLAR PLEXUS: I do
  • HEART CHAKRA: I love
  • THROAT CHAKRA: I speak
  • THIRD EYE CHAKRA: I see
  • CROWN CHAKRA: I know

Each element is connected to a different chakra and has unique properties that help to balance each of them too.

However, the Spirit element or Aether (as it’s known in ancient Greece) is connected to all three upper chakras. Aether is the most expansive of the elements, it is spirit, space and the in-between all in one.

The elements and their associated chakras:

  • EARTH: BASE CHAKRA
  • WATER: SACRAL CHAKRA
  • FIRE: SOLAR PLEXUS
  • AIR: HEART CHAKRA
  • SPIRIT: THROAT CHAKRA, THIRD EYE CHAKRA, CROWN CHAKRA

And we don’t just stop there. Because each element can also be connected to the astrological zodiac signs. These elements are generally linked to our overall temperament and character.

When we understand the elements are connected to everything we do on Earth we can understand ourselves, our personalities, our work, the way we do things and the way the world works in more detail.

If you look at the elements and the astrological star signs in a little more detail you’ll probably see a few traits that are relevant to you based on where your sun sign or rising sign is especially:

Earth Signs (Virgo, Capricorn, Taurus):

The grounded, stable analysts! The Earth Signs are often associated with the earthly material world. Great at organisation, being methodical and practical. Often very ambitious and hard-working. However, they can also be seen as quite serious, so could do with lightening up now and again!

Water Signs (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces) :

It’s all about feelings and emotions. Water signs are nurturing and caring as well as highly sensitive and intuitive but they need to learn to be independent, not to always retreat and become reclusive!

Fire Signs (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius) :

Fire signs are doers and enjoy being leaders. They often take action before they think and are not afraid to take a risk. Strong, assertive, very wilful and often impatient! They’re creative and like to bring new things into existence.

Air Signs (Aquarius, Gemini, Libra) :

The great communicators! Open-minded and intellectual, but the air signs do often find it hard to make decisions. They can be a bit too wishy-washy, often changing their minds and find it hard to relate to others.

Spirit/Aether Element:

The Spirit element is a bridge between the physical and spiritual – between the body and soul.

Spirit helps us to connect to our soul and source energy helping us to see things from a different perspective. Finding your voice, speaking the truth, accepting and sharing your unique message and gifts.
