I'm going on a National Trust Adventure and you're going to be in charge. Interested?
Perhaps a £100 COTSWOLD OUTDOOR VOUCHER would sway you...
As an adventure maiden and ambassador for all things creative and adventurous I am delighted that the National Trust have asked me to take up an outdoorsy challenge, right here in my home base in Devon.
Now, they've given me some options and I am to offer these up to you to choose which one I should do. I have to be honest, axe throwing was one of them and though I know I'd look pretty cool in a viking outfit (this is all I could imagine when thinking of it), I don't fully trust myself throwing an axe and not hurting myself or someone else. As many of you know I'm a little accident prone and if it's anything like that Javelin lesson at school where I almost took out my own head... well, I think it's in everyone's best interest that I do something a little less violent.
But why? I hear you ask... A new outdoor festival is taking place in Devon from 23rd-25th September.
I often go walking and star gazing or out on a boat whilst in Devon, but this festival is offering up lots of new and different activities. So if you're looking to be a bit more adventurous and find out how awesome the English countryside can be then The South West Outdoor Festival is definitely the place to be!
You can come and build your own adventure weekend or chill out in the West Country's wonderful wilderness. Think of it as a fab mash up of all your favourite activities out in the wild. From trail running and open water swimming to wild foraging (yes please!) and guided walks I'd say there's something for everyone. Let that adventure maiden spirit out and get involved!
So how do you get involved with this challenge & win the £100 voucher? Well, axe throwing aside, there's 3 options to choose from:
1. Coastal Kayaking
3. Stand up Paddle-boarding
You decide which adventure I do - just take a vote here. Plus, to make it easier and more fun I've written a little pitch for each...
So here goes:
Yoga is a favourite any time of day and I've never actually been on a yoga retreat of any kind because I so often do it myself or have it as a service on my own trips. So it would be nice to chill out and let someone else take the lead.
So the other two involve the open, cold waters, which isn't always my favourite thing in the world, coming from the warm Mediterranean seas, but I do love the ocean so why not.
I have always wanted to do Kayaking properly, it's one of those things where I wonder if the thought is better or worse than the reality. After having to row down a river in India I realised how rubbish at rowing I am - so this could go either way really!
Now SUP - there's something everyone has taken on this year it seems. Plus, a few people have been going on crazy long SUP adventures! Like my friends who are undertaking the world's first source-to-sea descent of the River Ganges by stand-up paddleboard - crazy! So I guess I should see what all the fuss is about...
Remember! That that by casting your vote, you automatically get entered into a draw to win a £100 voucher from Cotswold Outdoor. AWESOMENESS. The form asks you to leave your details so we can get in touch with you if you win, but don't worry all data will be deleted after the competition.
You have until midnight on 1st September to enter, so GO GO GO!
Place your vote now and check out all the awesome things you can do at the South West Outdoor Festival!
